Religious Education

Choose a subject

The INTENT of our RE curriculum is to Ignite the SPARK to ensure all children respect and value the right of people to hold differing beliefs, including those with no faith, and to cultivate understanding and respect in a society with a diversity of faiths.

It is our aim in RE that all children:

  • Feel SUPPORTED as they undertake their own faith journey
  • Take PRIDE  in developing their personal learning and thinking skills pertinent to Religious Education
  • ACHIEVE knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other religions, principally Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism all of which are represented in Hillingdon
  • RESPECT the right of people to hold differing beliefs, including those with no faith, and combat prejudice
  • Show KINDNESS towards others by learning from different world religions and provide opportunities to explore and express their own responses and personal beliefs

Parents/carers have the right to withdraw their child, wholly or partly, from:

  • Receiving religious education (RE) given in the school in accordance with the school’s basic curriculum
  • Attendance at religious worship in the school
